Lil Xan Pays Tribute to Mac Miller With New Face Tat
The ink reads "Memento Mori."
Many fellow musicians have been paying homage to Mac Miller in the wake of the "Self Care" MC's death at 26 on Sept. 7 of a suspected overdose. One of the more permanent tributes popped up above Lil Xan's right eyebrow over the weekend when the "Wake Up" rapper unveiled fresh ink that reads "Memento Mori," a Latin phrase that translates to "remember that you will die."
"Miss you Mac, y'all can start hating me now," wrote Xan in the caption of the pic.
An autopsy has been performed on Mac and it could be week or months before the results of toxicology tests shed light on what killed the Pittsburgh-bred rapper.
Xan's fresh face ink joins a growing list of tributes to Miller from his musical contemporaries and pop icons. In one of the more unusual ones, Fiona Apple posted an emotional video over the weekend. "I just wanted to say that I'm very sad about Mac Miller dying, I don't know why I feel like I need to express this, publicly but I guess I'm just realizing how great he was," Apple said in the one-minute clip.
There have also been a number of in-concert tributes from Drake, J. Cole, G-Eazy, Childish Gambino and more. "I just wanna say: I love you, Mac, and I just want to tell you that I love you and this song is for him because I feel like sometimes he wanted to let go," Gambino told his crowd on Saturday night (Sept. 8). A public vigil will be held for Miller in Pittsburgh's Blue Slide Park on Tuesday (Sept. 11).
