LL Cool J Nabs Eminem as First Guest on His Rock the Bells Radio Show 'The Influence of Hip-Hop'

LL Cool J is gearing up for the launch of his "The Influence of Hip-Hop" show on SiriusXM's Rock the Bells Radio at the top of September. For his first guest, the two-time Grammy winner has nabbed Eminem for an informative interview to christen the show with a conversation between a pair of hip-hop legends. "The Influence of Hip-Hop" launches Sept. 1 on a monthly basis over on SiriusXM's channel 43 at 3 p.m. ET.

Alongside DJ Z-Trip, LL sat down with Slim Shady to sort through a multitude of events throughout the Detroit native's storied career, including signing with Dr. Dre, his writing process behind "Stan," the power of hip-hop and much more. Several teasers of their chat have been posted online prior to the show's upcoming debut.

Eminem spoke about not knowing how to react to all of his fast-rising fame at the turn of the century. "When I first got in the game, I didn't understand a lot of shit. If you were walking outside the venue outside the show and took some pictures, there's always going to be someone you're not going to get to. It was my first experience with it," Em explained. "I didn't understand it. I think it was a combination of what I was going through at that time and experiencing fame for the first time."

The 45-year-old reflected on the origin of his connection to hip-hop as a shy adolescent growing up in Detroit. "It was something about the music that spoke to me. It was so new and refreshing. It just felt empowering. I don't know, it just spoke to me as a kid. I absolutely wanted to be like [LL Cool J] as a kid. I wanted to be like Run-DMC."
