Big Boi on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah.

Atlanta rapper Big Boi sat down with Trevor Noah on The Daily Show on Wednesday night (Aug. 8) for a wide-ranging chat that spanned topics from the rise of Atlanta traffic to owl breeding. Yup, owl breeding. After a brief discussion about the rapper's latest solo release, Boomiverse, Noah turned his attention to the MC's hometown of Atlanta, citing the city's recent economic boom. Big Boi said he could tell the city was on the rise because the roads are not super congested with outsiders.

"The movie industry came in, so along with that came the traffic. I guess in the past five or six years, Atlanta traffic has become like New York or L.A. traffic," said the rapper. "That's how I discovered [that Atlanta made it]."

Big Boi's legacy, of course, extends beyond his work in the influential rap duo OutKast and his solo material, though. Over the years, he's helped foster the careers of some of hip-hop and R&B's most cutting-edge artists.

"Two of my greatest accomplishments outside of being in OutKast is signing Janelle Monae and Killer Mike," he said of the things that make him proud. "Finding those artists and seeing that there are artists that can take the baton and run with it. They both kind of knew what they wanted and I didn't have to really babysit while they were doing it. To see where they are right now, I'm like a proud big brother."

Aside from music, Big Boi is also known pit bull breeder and animal lover. Noah touched on the topic, causing the rapper to burst into enthusiasm about his latest animal endeavor. "My new fetish now is owls," he said. "So my assistant, Shay, she's into birds and the guy who trains her birds brought this owl to the studio one time and I fell in love with him. I bought two owls, Hooti and Houdini ... Mike Tyson had tigers. I got birds."

Big Boi's latest album Boomiverse, dropped in 2017 and features the singles "All Night" and "Mic Jack."
