Listen to H.E.R.'s Six-Track EP 'I Used to Know H.E.R.: The Prelude'
With myriad newer R&B acts currently blossoming in the form of Daniel Caesar, Jorja Smith, Ella Mai, Jessie Reyes and more, one act has been able to lure fans in with not only her unruffled vocals, but also her mystique. On Friday (Aug. 3), H.E.R. hopped back into the fray and freed her six-track EP, I Used to Know H.E.R.: The Prelude.
After scoring her first pair of Hot 100 hits with "Focus" and "Best Part," featuring Daniel Caesar, H.E.R.'s newest release will serve as a precursor to her forthcoming debut album. H.E.R.'s appetizer includes a standout feature from Bryson Tiller on "Could've Been," while in addition to her dulcet vocals, H.E.R. flexes her lyrical muscle on "Lost Souls," channeling her inner Lauryn Hill.
"Confusing self-conscious with self-confidence/ So you monogamous but body positive/ Those pills you swallowing, for a following/ What he got to offer? He don't see the kids that he fathering," she raps.
