Kendrick Lamar made his primetime acting debut Sunday night (July 29) on STARZ's Power. After 50 Cent teased a special guest appearance last week (July 25), the show's executive producer Mark Canton confirmed that K. Dot would be taking his talents to the big screen in an unspecified role on Power.
The Compton native transformed into a homeless druggie named Lace for his cameo, where he assists 50 Cent's character, Kanan, in obtaining something he wants for cash. Power's creator Courtney Kemp was blown away with Kendrick's acting ability and detailed how the opportunity came about.
"[50 Cent] and Kendrick were hanging out and Kendrick said, ‘I’d really like to be on the show,’ and you know it goes from there. He’s really gifted, tremendously gifted. I mean it’s a total transformation. It is not a version of Kendrick Lamar that you’ve ever seen before. So it’s very exciting," Kemp told the Associated Press.
