6ix9ine was relatively quiet throughout the duration of his European tour. After returning back onto American soil on Wednesday (July 11), however, the Brooklyn rapper was immediately arrested at John F. Kennedy International Airport in NYC, TMZ first reported. Detective Sophia Mason of the NYPD confirmed the arrest of the artist born Daniel Hernandez to Billboard.

Legal authorities in New York took it upon themselves to enforce an outstanding warrant for Tekashi's arrest in Texas. The warrant stems from allegations of 6ix9ine choking a 16-year-old at the Galleria Mall in January. 6ix9ine's team relayed to TMZ that they were aware of the warrant and intended to deal with it "soon."

Just last month (June 18), law enforcement was looking into the 22-year-old's possible involvement or connection to the suspects in the Chief Keef shooting that took place at the W Hotel in NYC in the early hours of June 2.

Billboard has reached out to 6ix9ine's team for comment.
