With a flurry of releases sweeping the hip-hop culture by storm during the month of June, one artist who made sure not to get lost in the pileup has been A Boogie wit da Hoodie. Last week, the burgeoning talent released his eight-track EP The International Artist featuring a glut of rising talents including Jessie Reyez, Tory Lanez, Davido, Kap G and more.

"I was just trying to make a bigger fan-base before my album drops," Boogie told Billboard at the 2018 BET Awards on Sunday night (June 24). "Besides that, I got a whole lot of people in my crew that sings different styles, so I thought it was important for me to bring that kind of energy out there."

One of the standout records from The International Artist includes a blistering appearance by Jessie Reyez on "Pretending." Boogie gushed about Reyez's innate vocal abilities and what made her the ideal choice for the record. "That's my favorite record," said Boogie. "Her voice is crazy. I've never heard a voice like that. I felt like it complimented mine in a way when it came to my lane and her lane. Collided together, it's fire."

While Boogie enjoyed partnering up with Reyez on "Pretending," he admitted that Tory Lanez challenged him the most on their collaboration "Best Friend." "Me and Tory Lanez got good chemistry together. We could make a song so easy, but we always like to figure out what we're really doing. We can make a good song, but it gotta make sense. Our melody game is crazy. We everywhere with that shit. Shout-out to Tory Lanez."

Boogie has even entertained the thought of doing a collaborative project with Lanez, especially since the two have several records stashed away. "We got a few songs together. We just got to link up together and finish more songs. From there, we can do the damn thing."

"It's the same shit with me and Thugger," Boogie revealed regarding upcoming new music with Young Thug. "We got like six joints together, but you know me, I like to create more music and then just put it out."
