Ella Mai's 'Boo'd Up' Certified Platinum by RIAA

From boo'd up to banking a million.

2018 is certainly treating 23-year-old Ella Mai very well. The R&B songstress, signed to 10 Summers/Interscope Records, dropped the infectious R&B banger "Boo'd Up" on her Ready EP in February 2017, and now it's taken off. As of Thursday (June 21), the National Recording Industry of America (RIAA) has certified "Boo'd Up" platinum, recognizing 1 million equivalent song units earned in the U.S.

One equivalent song unit, as recognized by the RIAA, is equal to: one digital song sale, or 150 on-demand audio and/or video streams. The RIAA revamped its Gold & Platinum Awards Program on Feb. 1, 2016, growing from a pure sales certification process to one that includes tracks and streams.

The hit, produced by Mustard, has spent 11 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100 and currently sits at No. 7 (week of June 23). Expect to hear more of the song this summer, as Mai performs the jam at the 2018 BET Awards on Sunday and kicks off her sold-out Boo'd Up Tour in August.
