As part of his Hamildrops series, Lin-Manuel Miranda has unleashed a special June edition from Mobb Deep called "Boom Goes the Cannon" on Monday (June 18). The track also features vocals from Prodigy; with the one-year anniversary of his passing later this week (June 20), the tribute makes for a timely release.

“I feel so humbled and grateful that Havoc and Prodigy not only came to see us at the Rodgers in 2016, but were inspired to create this track before Prodigy's untimely passing last year," Miranda said in a press release. "Their lyrics, as ever, paint a vivid picture of friendship and solidarity in the face of overwhelming odds. I'm unbelievably proud to present new Mobb Deep music in 2018. This one's for Queensbridge."

"Boom Goes the Cannon" borrows lyrics from Hamilton's "Right Hand Man," as Havoc and Prodigy morph into the role of George Washington in the musical. "It's 32,000 troops in New York harbor/ We outgunned, outmanned and outnumbered," raps the Queensbridge native.

Earlier this year, Havoc shared that another Mobb Deep album was in the works during an appearance on MSNBC's The Beat With Ari Melber. "It'll be out there pretty soon, before the end of the year. Before the end of the year, it’ll be out," he confirmed.
