Kanye West Sends Love to Kate Spade's Family

Kanye West posted a tribute to fashion icon Kate Spade on Tuesday night (June 5), just hours after the world learned that the famed shoe, handbag and accessories designer was found dead in her Manhattan apartment of a suspected suicide. 'Ye tweeted out a series of prayer hands and the message "all love to her family" over a clip of a tabloid report that said Spade suffered "manic depression for years before she killed herself and became obsessed with Robin Williams' suicide -- but didn't want to get treatment in case it hurt her brand, says her sister."

West recently opened up to radio host Big Boy about his struggles with mental illness and how making art has been a crucial outlet for him. "I'm so blessed and so privileged because think about people that have mental issues that are not Kanye West, that can't go and make that [album] and make you feel like it's all good. I've never been diagnosed and I was like 39 years old," he said, clarifying that he meant "diagnosed with a mental condition."

"It's not a disability, it's a superpower," he told Big Boy, echoing his lyric about bipolar disorder on Ye.

Spade, 55, was honored by a number of celebrities, who shared their memories of their first encounters with her work, urging people to reach out for help with links to suicide prevention hotlines.
