Brooklyn R&B Underdog Ryan Shares Melodic Debut Single 'Pull Up': Exclusive Premiere

Larson “1stake” Bodden

“Anywhere you are in the world, you can feel the presence of someone who’s from New York,” says Brooklyn singer-songwriter Ryan, who's exclusively premiering his debut single “Pull Up” today (April 27) via Billboard. “It’s a different type of confidence.”

The smooth offering, produced by LA’s own FORTUNE, finds Ryan showcasing a diverse mixture of singing and rapping. “Whatcha gonna do when I pull up on you?” He sings over blasting 808’s. The up-and-comer's flow is as tight as any of today’s top tier rappers, but with its own spice courtesy of Ryan's melodic undertones.

“I’m just excited to give people good music,” Ryan adds. Anxious to offer a return to form, he plans to stand above the formulaic production of today. “The Isleys, R. Kelly, New Edition – they had stacks of harmonies and layers…We’re all here to be special. Individuality is our gift.”
