Kanye West Tweeted a Screenshot of John Legend's Texts, and Chrissy Teigen Isn't Pleased

If you didn't check Twitter Wednesday (Apr. 25), you might've missed the uproar that ensued following Kanye West's proclamation of his support for President Donald Trump.

"He is my brother," 'Ye tweeted in a series following a selfie he posted, in which he sported a Make America Great Again hat. "I love everyone. I don't agree with everything anyone does. That's what makes us individuals."

Many fans and celebrities were not pleased, one of which being John Legend, who evidently texted the "Famous" rapper in disdain. West tweeted a screenshot of his exchange with the singer.

"I hope you'll reconsider aligning yourself with Trump," Legend said in the text. "You're way too powerful and influential to endorse who he is and what he stands for."

He continued, "So many people who love you feel so betrayed right now because they know the harm that Trump's policies cause, especially to people of color."

West quipped back, "You bringing up my fans or my legacy is a tactic based on fear used to manipulate my free thought."

Legend's wife Chrissy Teigen shared her disappointed thoughts on Twitter, implying that she's not happy Ye made his conversation with Legend public. "When it comes to people we know, we DO speak up," she explained. "To THEM. not on Twitter. And sometimes, I guess it makes it to Twitter."

West then justified his actions by tweeting that he chose to post it in order to show the varying opinions that exist in his social circle. "I respect everyone's opinion but I stand my ground," he said. He later tweeted a warning for followers to not "let peer pressure manipulate you" if you have strong opinions.

Finally, after some fans noticed Legend appeared to be using something other than an iPhone, Teigen made a quip about her husband's ties to the Google Pixel 2.
