Kanye West Calls Hot 97 Amid Trump Controversy, Tells Morning Host Ebro Darden He Loves Him

Following a bizarre Monday (April 23) that included Kanye West doubling down on his support for Donald Trump, things took an interesting turn early Tuesday morning when the Chicago star called Hot 97's Ebro in the Morning to tell radio host, Ebro Darden, that he loves him.

In hopes of gaining clarification on his unwavering support for President Trump, Darden accepted West's phone call during the middle of a commercial break. Instead of diving into the controversial topic, West veered left and told Darden that he loved him. "I just called to say I love you, bro," he said. Baffled by West's statement, Darden responded back and said that he loved him, as well. West continuously repeated "I love you" before breaking out into a singing rendition of the poignant phrase.

Finally, West switched things up and offered to "meet up in person and then we can talk afterwards" with Darden. Dumbfounded by the short conversation, Darden's co-host, Peter Rosenberg, chimed in on the situation on Twitter. "Yes Kanye just called the show while we were in the middle of a break and just kept repeating "I love you" to Ebro...eventually he said lets meet in person off air and then talk on the air."

On Monday, Darden revealed that he had a conversation with Kanye over the weekend, which included him praising Donald Trump. Darden's account of the conversation sparked outrage on Twitter and left avid Kanye supporters in disbelief. Elsewhere in their conversation, West candidly voiced his addiction to opioids. "Nobody really showed love for me when I was addicted to opioids and in the hospital," he told Darden during their chat.
