Tinashe Is 'For Sure' Up To Collaborating With BTS

Tinashe’s new album Joyride features several tracks with collaborators, including French Montana, Offset, and Future. But while her team-ups have leaned more hip-hop, Tinashe may be interested in exploring the world of K-pop.

In a discussion with Billboard's Kevan Kenney, Tinashe was asked about a comment by BTS’ J-Hope during an interview with Front Row Live Entertainment last year, when he said that he wanted to work with her. Quick to say "For sure" to the possibility, Tinashe described the potential cross-cultural collab between herself and the record-breaking K-pop septet as something “outside of the box” from what she usually does. “I don't like to just be in one zone all the time so that'd be fun."

If the boy band and Tinashe opt to work together, it will be the second time that she works with a K-pop act; she previously worked with Chanyeol of the K-pop boy band EXO on Far East Movement and Marshmello’s “Freal Luv” in 2016. BTS has already worked with several American musicians, including The Chainsmokers, Desiigner, and Steve Aoki, though Tinashe would potentially be the first female, American or otherwise, artist the K-pop boy band would collaborate on a song with outside of a few member's solo projects and advertisements they've been involved with.

This is the second time Tinashe’s shown a willingness to work with the popular boy band upon being asked about the act. She was previously asked about it at an ACLU benefit last year.
