Almost three years after Missy Elliott's performance at the 2015 Super Bowl, the seminal rapper elaborated on the context of her heading to the stage: she was in the hospital only the night before.

Elliott tweeted, "no1 knew I was in the hospital the night before I had to perform at the SuperBowl," attached to a video from the performance, where she assisted Katy Perry in pulling off the most-watched half-time show ever.

She added, "& when I heard the beginning of Get Ya Freak On playing I was SO SHOOK. I said Lord I can't turn back now."

In the end, Elliott credited God with pulling her through the performance despite being hospitalized the night before. Elliott did not give an explanation as to why she was in the hospital, but in 2008 she was diagnosed with Graves' Disease, a condition she kept under wraps until an interview with People in 2011.
