Talib Kweli returns with his eighth studio album Friday (Nov. 17). Radio Silence serves as more of a return to form of what we expect from the socially conscious artist. Talib relies heavily on features throughout the 11 tracks, including some of the best hip-hop has to offer.

The 42-year-old told Zane Lowe of Apple Music earlier this week that he has been stockpiling beats from all-time great producers such as J Dilla, Madlib and Kaytranada saying, “I got the legendary G-Mail.” Kaytra was behind the boards for the project’s melodic single, “Traveling Light,” which enlists the talented Anderson Paak..

Radio Silence exemplifies Kweli’s ability to embrace his influences no matter the genre to create the purest art possible. The 47-minute album features appearances from: Rick Ross, Waka Flocka, BJ The Chicago Kid, Jazz artist Robert Glasper, and the normally reserved Jay Electronica.

The soulful album's most heartfelt track, “She’s My Hero,” is dedicated to domestic abuse victim Bresha Meadows, who ended up fatally shooting her father as a form of self-defense in a traumatic incident back in 2016. Stream Radio Silence below.
