Yo Gotti always tries to set the right example when it comes to representing his hometown of Memphis, TN. Saturday, (Oct. 28) a tragic incident took place inside a city apartment where a 10-year-old boy killed himself after being abused by his mother.

Robin McKinzie was disciplining her son with an extension cord by whipping and choking him with the wire. Ten-year-old Jaheim had enough, running to the kitchen and stabbing himself in the chest with a knife, according to Fox 13. The injuries proved to be fatal.

After getting word of the story, the I Still Am MC is stepping up to help the family through this tough time. Fox 13 is reporting that Gotti will be covering the child’s funeral costs in some capacity, while Robin is currently facing multiple charges of child abuse.

Billboard has reached out to Gotti's rep for comment.
