It's very early in the NBA season, but the Atlanta Hawks are giving fans a reason to care about their game on Friday night (Oct. 27) against the Denver Nuggets, by having Run the Jewels perform at halftime and after the game.

Run The Jewels, also simply known as RTJ and comprised of rapper Killer Mike (an Atlanta native) and rapper-producer EI-P, will help the Hawks open their season at home at Philips Arena. The Hawks have yet to play this season at Philips Arena, which is in the midst of a $192.5 million renovation.

"RTJ is gonna run Philips Arena like a fast break on Oct. 27," Killer Mike said via press release. "Be ready, Atlanta!"

“We’re excited to welcome Run the Jewels to Philips Arena to join our fans for a season-opening celebration of Hawks basketball,” said Hawks CEO Steve Koonin, also through a statement. “Killer Mike continues to be a great partner as we progress toward unveiling a new world-class, fan-focused venue in the 2018-19 season.”

A special Run The Jewels x Hawks shirt will be available at the in-arena Hawks Shop for tonight only.

Run The Jewels is the most recent artist in a queue that started at the beginning of the 2014-15 NBA season. Other artists to participate in the Hawks' in-game concert series were Atlanta-born T.I., Ludacris, 2 Chainz, Gucci Mane, Migos and Big Boi.
