Nicki Minaj attends Marc Jacobs SS18 fashion show during New York Fashion Week at Park Avenue Armory on Sept. 13, 2017 in New York City.

According to Pitchfork, Nicki Minaj will testify on the witness stand in defense of her brother, Jelani Maraj, for his child rape case. On Thursday (Oct. 19), a lawyer from Maraj's team confirmed the news to the publication.

In 2016, Maraj pled not guilty after being indicted on felony sexual assault against a child. In 2015, he was arraigned and later released on bond from New York's Nassau County jail.

Pitchfork's report claims that Maraj's lawyer intends to argue that the alleged 12-year-old child and her mother attempted to "shake down" Minaj for $25 million “to make the charges go away.” As of now, no trial date has been set.

Billboard has reached out to Minaj's reps for comment.
