Cardi B's long been an admirer of Christian Louboutin's, long before her breakout hit "Bodak Yellow" shouted out the luxury shoe brand and clawed its way to the top of the Billboard Hot 100. In a new interview with New York Times, Christian Louboutin discussed the Bronx MC and her Louboutin shout-out on "Bodak Yellow."

As the record continues to top the Hot 100 and smash radio airwaves, it's hard to escape Cardi's hit, even for Mr. Louboutin himself, who admits he's not a huge rap fan, but does know who Cardi B is. "She's a rapper? This 'Yellow' song?" he told New York Times. He says that while his friend introduced him to "Bodak Yellow," he's not too familiar with the rapper and doesn't get caught up in "fame."

"My job is creating beautiful shoes," he added. "The rest has became what it became." That's not to say he's not open to meeting the singer, who has over 90 pairs of Louboutin's "bloody shoes." When asked if he'd be open to meeting Cardi, the shoe designer simply replied, "Why not?"

Billboard recently spoke to Cardi's stylist, Kollin Carter, who revealed that the rapper often buys "red bottoms" and wears the luxury shoe as a "status symbol." "And in real life, before 'Bodak' blew up, she wore red bottoms because that’s what it means to make it in the Bronx," Carter said. "It’s a status symbol that the masses can relate to; everyday girls work hard and save up their money to have that shoe. Cardi did the same."
