"Hey this is pretty cool!"

Post Malone covered Green Day’s classic pop punk anthem, “Basket Case,” at a Maryland concert earlier this month and now the band's frontman has given it his stamp of approval.

Billie Joe Armstrong shared a fan-shot video of the performance on Monday via Twitter with the encouraging comment, “hey this is pretty cool!”

Malone doesn't look the least bit out of place in the video, strumming on his glittery acoustic guitar while channeling the iconic punk band’s attitude by ending the song with a yell of, “Thank you so fucking much!”

The “Rockstar” rapper played in a hardcore band in high school before he made waves in the rap world with his debut single, “White Iverson.” He reportedly started playing guitar because of “Guitar Hero” and taught himself how to play through YouTube tutorials.
