From the carefully crafted soundtrack and fashion choices down to the title of each episode, HBO's series Insecure is all about the details. A couple of Reddit users -- no_potionplantlover3, and sparkleheartemoji -- recently sparked a theory about the use of Frank Ocean references in each episode of the show's latest season and, as Complex reports, the theories proved to be true.

Insecure has been having fun like this since its inception in 2016. For instance, each episode in season 1 followed the same naming structure and ended in "As Fuck" and for the second season the writers continued this pattern as every episode title started with "Hella."

The Frank Ocean references begin from the first episode of season 2 and are sprinkled throughout the rest of the season, from protagonist Issa's Frank Ocean phone case to subtly inserting lyrics from the singer's latest album, Blonde, into the script and using Ocean's "Slide" collab with Calvin Harris in the trailer. In the third episode of season 2 titled "Hella Open," the writers pluck the line from "Solo", where Ocean sings "I've got to tell you how much I vibe with you." Complex also points out another reference in episode 4, "Hella LA", where a character recites "Fuck me good, fuck me long, fuck me numb," from Ocean's Nostalgia, Ultra cut "Novacane."

Ocean isn't the only artist Insecure writers have referenced and have dropped a slew of Drake references during the show's first season. In the pilot episode of Insecure, one character states, "Every black girl that went to college likes Drake," and continued to use the rapper's lyrics in the following episodes.
