For the past few weeks, R&B crooner Miguel has posted covers to fan-requested songs as part of his weekly #WildheartWednesday series. On Wednesday (Aug. 2), the singer took on SZA'CTRL cut, "The Weekend" and put his own spin on the standout track.

Gliding around the Lora Schlesinger Gallery in Santa Monica, CA, the "Waves" crooner belts out the chorus, flipping the pronouns to give the female anthem a male perspective. "My girl is my girl is your girl, heard that's his girl/ Tuesday and Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday/ I just keep her satisfied through the weekend," he sings in the clip. Miguel writes that "The Weekend" is a favorite of his and calls the track a "Foxy-ass song".

Miguel was recently featured on RL Grime's "Stay for It," and partnered with Viceland for the web-series 102 Earthworks: Miguel, where the singer traveled to Mexico to connect with his family and heritage. No word on when fans will receive any new music from Miguel, but the singer did reveal plans to release a Spanish album in an interview with Latina earlier this year.

"I do think that the direction of my music is a little bit different, but I will say that the experience in getting to know about Cuban culture and history made me want to explore more and more my connection with my Latin roots, especially with music," he said. "It sounds ambitious, but I'm looking to release an album in Spanish later on this year. If nothing else, at least releasing a single or two in Spanish."
