Big Boi Has an Out-Of-This-World Experience in New 'Mic Jack' Video
The clip, like the song, features Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine.
Big Boi kicked off his press run for his forthcoming effort Boomiverse with a performance of his latest single "Mic Jack" on The Voice Tuesday night (May 16) alongside featured artist (and Voice coach) Adam Levine before unveiling the single's official visual shortly after.
In the eccentric visual, Daddy Fat Sax enters a dry cleaners with the hopes of picking up his suit only to realize that the employee (Adam Levine) has trouble finding it. Levine hands Big Boi a white fur coat as the visual transforms into a smoky, futuristic scene with Big Boi and his accompanying futuristic ladies two-stepping to the airy, funk-reminscient melody. Adam Levine chimes in with breathy vocals that compliment the driving funk bassline.
Speaking to Billboard about Boomiverse earlier this month, Big Boi revealed that on this project he wanted to "get back to that lyrical prowess and aggressiveness that everybody loves and really just have fun with it." He added that "there’s nothing to prove" and that Boomiverse is him "coming out of my cocoon."
Boomiverse is the follow-up effort to Big Boi's last solo offering Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors and 2015's Phantogram collaborative project Big Grams. Big Boi's upcoming studio effort will arrive on June 16 and will see guest appearances from Gucci Mane, Killer Mike, the late Pimp-C, Jeezy and more.
