Khalid, the 19-year-old Texas-bred alt-R&B singer and breakout RCA signee, announced a 25-date North American tour set to run through the end of the summer. The American Teen Tour, named for his debut album released March 3, will be his second headlining outing, and will kick off July 12 at Portland, Ore.'s Roseland Theater.
Khalid's emergence as a soulful, bubbling star has been swift over the past few months, spurred by his breakout single "Location," which climbed to No. 16 on the Billboard Hot 100, and currently remains in chart's top 20. His first LP, American Teen (Right Hand Music/RCA Records) debuted and peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 upon release, and helped him become a hot commodity; earlier this year, Zedd teased an upcoming collaboration with the singer, and he appeared on Calvin Harris' latest track, "Rollin,'" which also features Future, as well as alongside Alessia Cara on Logic's top-50 Hot 100 hit "1-800-273-8255." In March, "Location" also got a remix with additional features from Lil Wayne and Kehlani.
But it's not just artists who are knocking on Khalid's door these days. On Sunday, Forever 21 announced a new global campaign with the young singer in which he will serve as the face of the retailer's #F21XMUSIC summer push, as well as its men's line. The Khalid-Forever 21 partnership was put together by MAC Presents/Cara Lewis Group and Khalid's manager Courtney Stewart from Right Hand, while the tour was booked by his agent Cara Lewis through CLG.
