Faith Evans Reveals 'The King & I' Cover Art: Exclusive
Last month, Faith Evans released the first two singles --“NYC” featuring Jadakiss and “When We Party” featuring Snoop Dogg -- from The King & I, her duets album with late husband The Notorious B.I.G. As fellow artists and fans pay tribute to the rap icon on the 20th anniversary of his death today (March 9), Evans debuts the cover art for the long-anticipated album with Billboard.
Set for release on May 19, two days before Biggie’s birthday, The King & I features 25 tracks and a guest list that also includes Busta Rhymes, Lil’ Cease, Lil’ Kim, Sheek Louch and Styles P. On board as producers are DJ Premier, Just Blaze, Salaam Remi, Stevie J and Chucky Thompson.
Evans initially revealed her plans to record The King & I in 2014. “I remember telling Ms. Wallace [Biggie’s mother] that one day it would be really dope if I could do something similar to Natalie and Nat King Cole’s ‘Unforgettable,’ says Evans in her latest bio. “Knowing the love that B.I.G. had for [daughter Tyanna] and Ceejay [his son with Evans, Christopher Wallace Jr.], I feel it’s my duty to uphold and extend his legacy, especially his musical contributions. This project is my creative reflection of the love we had and the bond we will always have.”
