DMX, The LOX & Eve Announce Ruff Ryders Reunion Concert in Brooklyn
On Tuesday, the crew announced the news of their reunion concert on their social-media accounts. Alongside DMX, The LOX, Swizz Beatz, Eve and Drag-On will grace the stage for the label's 20th anniversary. X expressed his joy for the forthcoming concert in an Instagram post, writing, "Brooklyn !! Barclays April 21st will be a night to remember !!! #letsgetiton."
Earlier this year, DMX launched his comeback with the Swizz Beatz-assisted record "Bane is Back." On the performance side of things, he played an integral role in Puff Daddy's Bad Boy reunion tour last year. As for Swizz, he recently unearthed a previously unreleased gem of a track that included unheard verses from Jay Z, DMX, Nas and Jadakiss during a beat battle with fellow production whiz Just Blaze that was streamed on Instagram Live last week.
Around the turn of the century, Ruff Ryders Entertainment was a tour-de-force in the hip-hop world known for shepherding the early multi-platinum career of DMX, whose first five albums released under Ruff Ryders/Def Jam between 1998 and 2003 all debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. In 1999, the label logged three No. 1s on the chart: Eve's debut Let There Be Eve... Ruff Ryders' First Lady; X's Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood and the label compilation Ryde or Die Vol. 1, while X's ...And Then There Was X, released in December 1999, would hit the top of the chart in early 2000.
That year, the label released The LOX's We Are the Streets and would go on to drop solo albums from each of the group's MCs, while Swizz -- whose uncles founded the imprint -- steadily grew to be one of the most in-demand producers in the game due to his work on Ruff Ryders releases.
Pre-sale tickets for the Ruff Ryders reunion concert are available now on Ticketmaster. General public tickets will go on sale this Friday.
