After becoming the first rapper to be inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, Jay Z headed straight to Tidal to salute his contemporaries in a special playlist.

Setting the party off is Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five's "The Message," featuring Melle Mel and Duke Bootee, followed by Nas' "If I Ruled the World (Imagine That)" and classics from Lauryn Hill, OutKast, Kanye West, N.W.A, Eminem and 2Pac.

Hov also shared the honor in a rare tweet. "By the way, this is a win for US," he typed. "I remember when rap was said to be a fad. We are now alongside some of the greatest writers in history."
