Produced by Christian Rich, Aalegra's slow and intoxicating vocals gives the track a 1940s film noir-type feel. "We can't let it be/ 'Cause we live in a time of make-believe/ We both can't agree/ That we're reachin' the point of..." she haplessly sings. The slow-winding beat allows Staples to weave his way in with a smooth verse of his own. "Good morning darling, I see you falling/ In and out of love, is it because you're cold and heartless?" questions Staples.
"Nothing Burns Like the Cold" comes on the heels of Aalegra's 2016 effort Don't Explain, which boasted production from the likes of No I.D., Boi-1da, DJ Dahi and more. It's also the second song she's done with Staples, having guested on the rising MC's excellent debut album Summertime '06 with a spot on "Jump Off the Roof."
