Chance the Rapper's latest "Open Mike" event in Chicago featured some serious surprises for attendees on Monday night (Jan. 30). In addition to sets from aspiring teen singers and comedians, the crowd was treated to a surprise appearance from comedian Dave Chappelle, as well as the cast of BET smash mini-series The New Edition Story and Chicago Bulls All-Star Jimmy Butler.

The hometown MC really appreciated the effort, revealing to the crowd that the New Edition actors hopped on a plane at a moment's notice to help teach the youngsters about the game during the packed event at the Pritzker Auditorium in the Harold Washington Library. "I told them I had some young creatives in Chicago that needed to be around vocalists, actors, singers, dancers... and that they need to be in this space and all these guys without getting any money from me or anything hopped on a plane and came out to be in front of you guys," Chance told the audience.

Chappelle also did a short set during which he did some crowd work, chatting up an exchange student from Tunisia while making some jokes about President Trump's controversial immigration ban.
