In 2016, singer/songwriter Anderson .Paak's stock skyrocketed. Not only did he secure himself two Grammy nominations for his critically acclaimed project, Malibu, but he also provided features for Mac Miller, ScHoolBoy Q, and A Tribe Called Quest.
.Paak recently visited Pharrell on his Beats 1 radio show OTHERtone to speak on his success, his contributions to Dr. Dre's Compton album, and what he's cooking up with Q-Tip.
To get the conversation going, .Paak delved into his relationship with Dr. Dre and how the Compton album sparked his meteoric rise to fame. "I think that was one of the platforms for sure, man," said .Paak. "It's like, Dre is putting out an album, and he's really gonna put out an album, and I wind up on six of the tracks. So I know a lot of people were like, 'Who is this guy?' So, yeah, after that, stuff started happening. I had a little more leverage. People started hitting me up. It was cool. It was funny."
