Esteemed Los Angeles music veteran DJ Crazy Toones, best known for his work with '90s hip-hop collective WC and the Maad Circle, as well as rappers like Kurupt, MC Ren, Ice Cube and Young Maylay, has reportedly died. Toones also served as Ice Cube's DJ. (Billboard has reached out to Ice Cube's rep for comment.)

The DJ, born Lamar Dupré Calhoun, was remembered on Twitter by MCs and producers alike, including Ice-T and Alchemist. "OG Crazy Toones was a Real WestCoast Rider... Man!!," tweeted Ice-T, who also worked with WC and the Maad Circle.

WC and the Maad Circle, comprised of Toones, longtime Ice Cube producer Sir Jinx and "Gangsta's Paradise" rapper Coolio, released two albums with 1991's Ain't a Damn Thang Changed and 1995's Curb Servin', home to the singles "West Up!" and "The One."
