Birdman Confirms Lil Wayne's 'Tha Carter V' Is 'Definitely Coming Out'

With the new year underway, it appears that Birdman is willing to start things off on the right note. After sparring with his former protege Lil Wayne over the release of Tha Carter V album, Birdman spoke about the elusive project with Travis Scott on the Missouri City rapper's Beats 1 radio show .wav.

Carter V coming out,” he said. “It’s definitely coming out. The situation with me and my son, bruh -- I’ma put all of that behind us and just let it move forward."

Birdman also praised Lil Wayne and even dubbed him as one of the best artists to ever come out. "Wayne is one of the best artists ever to do the game, and I want to see him continue to do what he been doing, and I'm going to support whatever he's doing."

Since 2014, Wayne and Birdman have had a rocky relationship. After Tha Carter V was shelved, Lil Wayne reportedly slapped Birdman with a $51 million lawsuit. He also used several platforms, most recently Camp Flog, to mock his Cash Money cohort. While performing "I'm Me," he purposely changed his lyric and rapped “I’m a motherf---in’ Roc-A-Fella millionaire," which allegedly pushed Birdman to pull the plug on their negotiations.

Towards the end of 2016, pharmaceutical tycoon, Martin Shkreli, claimed to have purchased Tha Carter V and streamed a few snippets from the project.

Earlier this week, Lil Wayne also hinted that he has three projects slated to drop this year, including Tha Carter V, Funeral and Dedication 6.

Birdman's interview with Travis Scott will air Jan. 6 at 3 p.m.
