On Jan. 15, actor/comedian Keegan-Michael Key will star in an hour-long Simpsons hip-hop special for the show's upcoming season premiere. Entering its 28th season, The Simpsons will feature a host of big-time rap stars, including Snoop Dogg, Common and RZA, as well as a special appearance from actress Taraji P. Henson.

Inspired by The Great Gatsby, the two-part episode will center around Key's character, Jazzy James. James is a fallen hip-hop star whose career crashes and burns. He then begins selling scented candles for a living in the Simpsons' hometown of Springfield.

"This was just going to be a regular episode, but the table read went so well, in a fit of passion and excitement and ambition and excess, we decided to supersize it,"  says Simpsons executive producer Matt Selman to NME. "We haven’t done a huge amount of stories in the world of hip-hop and rap culture, so we just went for it,"

The Simpsons also enlisted Empire writer and producer Jim Beanz to handle the original music for the hour-long special.
