Nobody has had a better year than Donald Glover, also known as Childish Gambino. From his FX show Atlanta landing a second season to his forthcoming role in the upcoming Star Wars film and recently releasing his third studio album Awaken, My Love!, the multi-hyphenate is consistently grinding.
In September, as part of a partnership with Microsoft, Gambino brought an audience out to the desert in Joshua Tree, California, to experience new tunes from Awaken, My Love! (released Dec. 2 via Glassnote Entertainment Group) for a set of shows dubbed the Pharos experience.
The multidimensional show featured various elements such as a choir, live instrumentation and an animated dome (a collaboration with artists Mikael Gustafsson and Alejandro Crawford). Crowdgoers also utilized a companion Pharos app and even enjoyed advance screenings of Atlanta.
