"We were beefing for a long time, but we squashed that beef. We became best friends," Soulja tells Billboard.

It’s 2016, and Soulja Boy and Bow Wow just dropped a mixtape. In the 11-track project, titled Ignorant Shit, the former frienemies trade verses about money, power and women on tracks like “Louis Vuitton,” “My House,” “F---in' Up a Check” and “Rick Flair.” Rich the Kid joins the duo as the sole feature on the mixtape on “All About Paper.”

Bow Wow posted on Instagram soliciting suggestions of which song they should shoot a video for first, writing, "What's your favorite song off #ignorantshit? Tag me and @souljaboy let us know what should we shoot video too.”

Billboard hopped on the phone briefly with Soulja to discuss the new project:

What made you decide to do an album with Bow Wow?

Bow called my phone and was like, "Man, yo, Soulja, let’s do an album." I’m like, "Damn, most n---as call and ask to do a song, for a feature or beat." I said, "A'ight, let’s do it." Me and that n---a had beef back in the day. We were beefing for a long time, but we squashed that beef. We became best friends. I been chilling with that n---a every day for like the last year. I go to his house, he come to my house. He’s like my brother. We been cool before the music, it’s not even about the music.

Where did you primarily record the album?

In L.A. at my house. I got a studio at my house. Everybody come out here and record here.

I have been doing songs with hella people. This ain’t the first collab, this is just the first one to release. I just did some sh-- with Migos, I just did some sh-- with Young Thug, I just did like five songs with Lil Boosie, I just did a new song with Young Dolph, I just did five songs with Post Malone for his album. I been working.

What made you name it Ignorant Shit?

Cuz it’s ignorant shit. That’s what we on. Pouring champagne in a bowl of cereal. Rain $20,000 in a swimming pool. Just ignorant shit. Go buy a Bugatti. That’s what we on right now. Just young rich n---a shit. It’s a way of life.

I see you've been posting about Epic Records. Are you in talks to do a deal?

I can’t talk about that, but I got some deals on the table. I’m flying to New York next week for meetings. (Note: Epic Records just recently moved its headquarters to L.A.)

What made you decide to throw Rich the Kid in the mix on the album?

London on the Track came to my house and we was working on my album. I had got five beats from London for my album. After I got those beats, I made that “All About Paper” song. Everybody in the studio said, "Damn, that shit crazy, yo." Rich the Kid jumped on it first then Bow got on it. After that, I had my engineer mix it up real crazy. But Rich the Kid is my little brother -- shout-out to the Migos and QC, Rich Forever. Me and Famous Dex [Rich the Kid's artist] got an album coming out too, just finished it. We just dropped our video “I Put Your Girl on a Molly.” It’s about to be crazy leading up to the first quarter.
