Damian Lillard's Debut Album 'TheLetterO' Features Raphael Saadiq, Lil Wayne, Marsha Ambrosius and More
In just four short years since his Portland Trailblazers debut, Damian Lillard has established himself as a star among the elite NBA players of his generation, and he's hoping to do the same in the hip-hop world -- releasing multiple singles on Soundcloud under the moniker Dame Dolla and even freestyling on Sway In The Morning. Just days after dropping the Raphael Saadiq-assisted track "Hero", Dame Dolla took to his Twitter on Thurs. (Oct. 20) to announce the release of his debut album TheLetterO, which hosts a bevy of musical veterans.
Damian Lillard hails from Oakland, CA but has held residency in Ogden, UT -- where he played collegiate basketball -- and Portland, OR, where he currently starts for the Blazers. The Letter O taps into all three areas (hence the O), and serves as the foundation behind the project and the album's artwork, which sees images of the famed Crystal Ballroom from Portland, OR and a "Welcome to Brookfield Park" sign, a recreation center in Damian's hometown Oakland, CA.
Though Dame Dolla's foray into hip-hop is new, his forthcoming effort The Letter O comes replete with guest appearances from seasoned artists across the hip-hop and R&B landscape. Southern rappers Lil Wayne and Juvenile lend features to the project as Dame Dolla taps soulful R&B crooners Jamie Foxx, Marsha Ambrosius and his recent collaborator Raphael Saadiq.
