They want respect in the game like they’re Bun B. The newest joint from Chicago producer DJ Rude One featuring Queens rapper SHIRT, “1,000 Dutches,” which Billboard premieres below, is raw emotion spit over a laid-back, percussion-led instrumental.
The energy of the track makes it sound like SHIRT is sitting right across the table, delivering his message in the form of a casual-yet-earnest conversation. He lays it all out on the mic with bars like, “As far as dreams go, I’m livin’ out my wildest / Bitches’ll tell you it’s too easy and too hard to love me / I never did nothin’ just for the money / Whatchu want from me?”
The track is fresh off of DJ Rude One’s upcoming LP ONEderful, a project for which the veteran DJ enlisted a few of his favorite MCs, also including Your Old Droog, Westside Gunn, Conway the Machine, J-Zone and more. The album is set for release on Oct. 28 via Closed Sessions.
