If you're a fan of nerdcore, Alex Trebek thinks you're a loser. At least, that's what the Jepoardy! host told one contestant on Wednesday night's (Oct. 12) episode of the game show. Although the "loser" laughed off Trebek's comments, nerdcore rappers MC Chris and Mega Ran didn't take the comment so lightly.

"It's called 'nerdcore' hip-hop. It's people who identify as nerdy, rapping about the things they love," the contestant Susan Cole described to Trebek. The game host quipped in response: "Losers, in other words."

In response to his genre's unlikely moment of mainstream infamy, MC Chris offered the following statement to Billboard: "Nerdcore is a genre that has been around for at least 15 years. I'm in my tenth year of touring, and my latest album MC Chris Is Dreaming peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard comedy charts this week. It's a small corner of the hip-hop world but it's a real and true respite to hundreds of thousands of people that are tired of being called losers, and would rather celebrate their nerdiness instead of trying to conform to society's mandates."

Mega Run, who is currently on tour with MC Chris and the like-minded MC Lars, heard about Trebek's remarks and decided to call him out on video: "Alex Trebeck, you lost a lot of respect/ I gotta check you off the rip for coming out of your neck", the MC rhymed in a clip he posted to his Twitter.

"Nobody likes a know-it-all, condescending blow-hard", the rapper continues. "But Susan got the last laugh, 20 grand cash and you're good at all my shows, you don't even have to ask."
