Chocolate Droppa Battle Raps With Lil Wayne in Exclusive Clip from BET Hip Hop Awards
When the BET Hip Hop Awards 2016 bow tomorrow (Oct. 4), the show will no doubt continue its tradition of hyping the proceedings with hot cyphers. In fact, here’s a hint to what’s in store: an exclusive clip of a cypher featuring Kevin Hart’s alter ego Chocolate Droppa holding his own against Lil Wayne. Chocolate Droppa, whose latest single “Push It on Me” featuring Trey Songz was released Sept. 30, is ramping up for the arrival of his Motown debut, What Now? The Mixtape. The project also shares the same title of comedian Hart’s stand-up comedy film, both of which will be available on Oct. 14.
The Droppa/Wayne cypher is just one of the highlights slated for the BET Hip Hop Awards 2016. The show will pay tribute to rap legend Snoop Dogg as this year’s I Am Hip Hop Award honoree. Among the performers that first-time host DJ Khaled will welcome to the stage are T.I., Gucci Mane, Travis Scott, Young Thug, Desiigner, Lil Yachty and D.R.A.M. Presenters include Bryshere Y. Gray (Empire, BET’s The New Edition Story) and rapper/actor Shameik Moore.
For the third consecutive year, Drake headed the list of of nominees with 14 nominations this time around. Taped on Sept. 17 at Atlanta’s Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, the 11th annual BET Hip Hop Awards will premiere on Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
