The Weeknd helped launch the 42nd season of Saturday Night Live on Oct. 1, performing two songs from his upcoming album, Starboy.

As expected, the singer, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, performed the Daft Punk-assisting title track "Starboy" and followed up with “False Alarm.” Some had hoped that the French dance duo would make a surprise appearance alongside Tesfaye, but unfortunately the helmet-wearing artists didn't show.

The Weeknd's SNL appearance was in support of Starboy, which arrives Nov. 25

In addition to his musical performances, the singer also made a cameo during SNL’s Weekend Update segment -- appropriately called Weeknd Update this time around -- to deliver news about his new hairstyle. "I got a haircut," he reported.

Next up, Hamilton creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda will assume hosting duties on Oct. 8, with Twenty One Pilots appearing as musical guest.
