Beenie Man Cancels OVO Festival Performance After Contracting Zika Virus

Veteran dancehall don Beenie Man was forced to cancel his co-headlining performance at Drake’s OVO Festival in Toronto Saturday night (July 30) after his apparent contraction of the Zika virus.

Beenie, who was scheduled to perform alongside Machel Montano, was denied entry into Canada a few days before the event over “immigration issues” related to his contraction of the virus.

The Jamaican artist shared an Instagram photo of himself in the hospital explaining the situation and apologizing to fans for missing the festival.

To celebrate the seventh edition of Drake’s annual multi-day OVO hip-hop fest, organizers added a Caribbean music concert featuring soca and dancehall artists to kick off series on July 30 at Toronto’s Echo Beach.
