Ty Money Turns Laquan McDonald Police Footage into a Moving Music Video: Watch

As Chicago grieves the death of 17-year-old Laquan McDonald, who was fatally shot 16 by a police officer last year, local rapper Ty Money has used the police dash cam footage showing the event to make his new music video.

"I just saw a body outside the United Center, and they left him in his Jordans," he raps on the track, "United Center."

The dash cam footage was released Tuesday and was received with protests in the city streets. McDonald was holding a 3-inch knife when he was shot by officer Jason Van Dyke for 15 seconds after he was reported for breaking into vehicles. Van Dyke was charged Tuesday with first-degree murder.

Ty Money's video is effective in its simplicity with the unedited squad car footage, given context by the song's narrative depicting the life many face on Chicago's South Side.
