What was thought to be a regular meet-and-greet at the White House turned into a jubilant birthday celebration as President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama shocked Usher by singing “Happy Birthday” to him.

The R&B singer-songwriter, who turned 37, took to Facebook to post about the surprise: “So this really happened the other night...... The President and First Lady sang me Happy Birthday at The White House & I got to perform for them. I couldn’t be more grateful for this moment and all of the birthday wishes from everyone. THANK YOU!!!!! #Blessed#OlderWiser”
