Macklemore & Ryan Lewis have a fan in Big Daddy Kane after the duo's MTV Video Music Awards performance on Sunday.

The rap legend took to Instagram to praise Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ highly choreographed performance of "Downtown" at the award show:

Big Daddy Kane appreciated the fact that Macklemore brought out old-school rap pioneers Kool Moe Dee, Grandmaster Melle Mel, and Grandmaster Caz.

"Great to see a young MC paying homage," Big Daddy Kane wrote on Instagram. "If it was that little purple ass character named Oh from the movie Home, I'd be just as happy because this is about Caz, Mel & Moe getting recognition. Not race," Kane wrote in the comments section of his Instagram post.
