FKA twigs performs on Day 1 of the Osheaga Music and Art Festival on July 31, 2015 in Montreal, Canada.

"Let me live through your lights," FKA Twigs echoes on her new track "Figure 8."

From the get-go, the song -- which premiered Monday (Aug. 3) on Zane Lowe's Beats 1 Radio -- sucks its listener in to an astonishingly entrancing experience not unlike that of her 2014 album LP1. "'Figure 8,' to me, is just a reflection of my mind state," she tells Lowe.

"Figure 8" is evocative, enmeshing trembling vocals that melt into muffled cries and get lost in long, seductive breaths. With Twigs, each track opens something of an emotional portal, letting lyrical minimalism inhabit a space accented by machinelike sounds and sporadic pounds. Angelic yet robotic, Twigs' vocal performance invades its listener mysteriously.

The song itself was conceived by a period of confusion that followed the success of her first album. "I was feeling a bit sad and quite a bit lost," she says to Lowe, "and I went to New York and I started to vogue." It was this newfound hobby that inspired the track. "Every hand movement  that you do in voguing is a figure of 8, and that is eternity. Every single move has to flow into the other like the eternal move that never stops moving."

Like Twigs' body of work so far, "Figure 8" is a discovery of self -- dancing with enviable grace from one experimental song to the next. This otherworldly track will be featured on FKA Twigs' forthcoming -- EP.
