Shazam just got a whole lot more adorable. And by adorable, we mean sappy, cheesy and super awkward. Like your mother.
The ubiquitous song-recognition app did a little number-crunching for Mother’s Day, calculating the top 10 most Shazam'd songs from May 10 and 11 of last year.
The result? An ultra-corny mixtape-worthy mash-up of loving, nurturing and kinda creepy songs, all sure to please anyone’s number one fan, especially if she’s over the whole flowers thing.
1. "A Song for Mama," Boyz II Men
Ahhh…and the memories just come flooding back from your mother/son Bar Mitzvah dance in 1992. Yeah, don’t worry. That beard will grow in eventually.
2. "Meanwhile Back at Mama’s," Tim McGraw ft. Faith Hill
For the mom who likes “sippin’ whiskey to keep her whistle wet.” Watch the music video, we swear it’s just as uncomfortable.
3. "Dear Mama," 2Pac
Kind, nurturing, mama-loving 2Pac. Sorry, Biggie. Maybe next year.
4. "I’ll Always Love My Mama," The Intruders
CLASSIC mom jam. (Cue Carlton dance).
5. "The Mother We Share," Chvrches
Apparently your mom is way cooler than you because she Shazams hip indie-pop.
6. "Hey Mama," Kanye West
For the mom who really, really wants to know you’re proud of her. #kanyeshrug
7. "Mother," Danzig
Perfect track for that metal-themed brunch you’ve been planning for your anti-Mother’s Day mother.
8. "Mama’s Broken Heart," Miranda Lambert
For the mom who’s not afraid to use some tough love and tell you when you look like a hot mess. After yelling about how dry your scrambled eggs are, she’ll probably also be at Danzig’s Mother’s Day brunch.
9. "Mama Used to Say" (12” Version), Junior
Great for when MJ’s just too much and Junior seems like a better option for tuneage while whipping those disgusting scrambled eggs.
10. "Te Amo Mama," Los Bukis
Cue the tears. We love you, mama!!!
