Kacey Musgraves proves that dreams really do come true, with an adorable throwback video of herself performing “Rainbow Connection” at nine years old.

Days following her collaboration of "Rainbow Connection" at the 2019 CMA Awards with Willie Nelson, Musgraves posted a clip of herself performing the song at a young age with the caption “nothing’s changed.”

In the three-minute clip, a young Musgraves is seen performing the beautiful ballad that Paul Williams and Kenny Ascher wrote for the 1979 film The Muppets by herself in what appears to be an audition. All smiles throughout the performance, her memorable soprano captivates and is just a hint of what’s to come two decades later when she shares the stage with Nelson to perform the same song.

As she wraps the song, applause is heard in the background when a woman enters the frame. “Doesn’t she have a beautiful voice? I love your voice!” she exclaims.

A video of nine-year-old Musgraves performing “Rainbow Connection” as well as her collaboration with Nelson from the CMA Awards is below.
