The Highwomen

One week after they dropped their stirring cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “The Chain,” the Highwomen have released the live performance of the track from the Howard Stern Show studios in New York.

The Highwomen -- made up of Brandi Carlile, Natalie Hemby, Maren Morris and Amanda Shires -- bring the stunning song to life with their remarkable four-part harmonies and a unique country flair. Backed by Jason Isbell and brothers Phil and Tim Hanseroth on acoustic guitars, the Highwomen make the song their own.

Their impeccable harmonies are at the forefront of the song, as no woman takes lead on the cover. Additionally, a nearly minute-long musical interlude featuring Shires’ soaring fiddle accompaniment alongside Isbell and the Hanseroth brothers, transforms the ‘70s hit into an ear-grabbing country barnburner.

The Highwomen will release their self-titled debut album on Sept. 6. The lead single from the project, “Redesigning Women,” was revealed in July. The women also played their first live show at Newport Folk Fest last month.
