Buffett and Mac McAnally wrote the song specifically for Jones

Caroline Jones has friends in high places. Jimmy Buffett and Mac McAnally wrote her new single “Gulf Coast Girl" specifically for the developing artist and, along with Kenny Chesney and Lukas Nelson, they sing on the song as well.

As the video below shows, Jones, who recently toured with Chesney, is a true Gulf Coast girl, as she roams throughout various towns and beaches including Gulf Shores, Mobile, Apalachicola, Destin, Pensacola, St. Petersburg, Tampa, Biloxi, Galveston and New Orleans. Her famous friends are heard, though not seen, in the video.

“I am so honored to sing this song that two of my heroes, mentors and friends -- Jimmy Buffett and Mac McAnally -- wrote for me,” she tells Billboard. “Mac introduced me to the Nashville studio musician scene back in 2012, and Jimmy took me under his wing last year on tour with his band and the Eagles. Adding Lukas Nelson, who Jimmy introduced me to, and Kenny Chesney, who I just wrapped up a tour with, has made for a truly amazing summer collaboration.”

In a statement, Buffett added: “My introduction to Caroline was at a benefit concert we were doing a few years back in Tallahassee after Hurricane Irma wreaked havoc on Florida. I had heard really good things about her, from friends, but was taken aback when I watched her open the show. Mac McAnally and I were interested in working with her and wanted to come up with a 'feel good' song that would do the same on beaches and lakes thousands of miles away from the beach I grew up on.”

Jones, whose music is distributed through Buffett’s Mailboat Records, is on the road with Zac Brown Band.
